Good tips, Ben!
Google Chrome has a useful extension called: Chrome SEO…it is a little button in the toolbar that allows you to get Alexa, Quantcast, Majestic, Compete, etc. rankings instantly for the page you are on (all without leaving the page). I’ve been a Firefox user for a long time, and still revert back to it for some items…but I have really started to enjoy Chrome, and they are releasing more extensions all the time.

Yes you’re 100% right, Alexa is not very accurate. Some people don’t know that which is why its good to lower your Alexa rank…

Thanks for the pointers, I’m new to the Alexa rating and just slowly learning about it. Do you know how long it takes a new site to get an Alexa rating, I bought my own domain recently and I’m still ‘unranked’?

I have heard the tip about the toolbar before but I really don’t see why alexa is so important, they are not that accurate with their statistics. I have some sites that have a low alexa because the sites don’t have that many links but they get a lot of traffic.

It doesn’t measure traffic very well, but its a good way to see your progress.
