I have eight-year-old twins, a boy and a girl. I try to bestow upon them my values and wisdom, but I also recognize that, if you let them, kids can be great teachers. Here are a few examples of business lessons I’ve learned from interacting with my children.

Is it possible to sell something by e-mail with just a great subject line? Sorry, but no. Great e-mail subject lines won’t make a sale, but bad ones could break a sale. Often times we spend hours or even days working to craft an e-mail, only to see our open rate is ridiculously low.

The information age is one of high definition, instant access, multimedia and infographics. But there’s one undisputed axiom of marketing that still holds true. Words sell. The words you choose ultimately determine your marketing success.
