How to Launch Your Website On-Time
When I was in the processes of developing my 30 Day Blog, I was working on a pretty set-in-stone deadline. I had already promised that the site would launch sometime in March and I did not want to let anyone down. This meant that I had to follow a pretty strict deadline system to make sure that everything was ready for the March 30th premier. Now, I’d like to share with you how I did it so you’ll launch your website on time and to the satisfaction of your customers who are already eagerly awaiting your site’s arrival.

Step 1: List Everything You Have To Do
Take a seat and write down all the tasks that you have to do to get your site up and running. Examples of tasks may be:
- Buy domain
- Install WordPress
- Write copy
- Make site graphics
Whenever you have your list, place them in order of what has to be done first to what can wait. Now on to step 2.
Step 2: Make Your Calendar
Grab yourself a calendar and a pencil because before you do anything, you have to choose a launch date. The best idea for setting a launch date is to give you plenty of time. Don’t worry about loosing customer interest; just make sure that you wont be rushing around like a headless chicken trying to get your site together.
Once you have your launch date circled (A.K.A. set-in-stone), schedule all the tasks that you have to do between now and then. This should be everything from the copy to the graphics.
Also, make sure that you allow time for site testing. This could be anywhere from a week for smaller sites or a month for a larger one.
Now that you have all of your weeks planned, make sure you follow your calendar. I mean, what good is doing all of this if your don’t follow your own guidelines?
Step 3: Decide Whether You’ll Need Help
Even though it’s fun to build a site all by yourself, you have to put your pride asside and determine whether you’ll need help: either proffesional or from a friend. But, before you contact anyone about helping you with your project, make sure you know exactly what you need them to do, especially if your hiring a professional.
Another note about professional designers is that you’ll need to get in writing what it is that they’ll be responsible for. Also, you should make sure that you chose someone who you can easily talk to and communicate your ideas with because there’s nothing worse than having a designer who doesn’t get what your trying to do.
Another good idea would be to share your calendar with your helper(s) so they know about the various deadlines that you set up in Step 2.
Step 4: Just Do It
Now that you have your list, your calendar, and your help, get out there and get your site built. If you follow your calendar of deadlines, you should have your site live in no time. And if you get done with one task early, jump on to the next one and have your website ready for testing early.
Whatever you do, just make sure that you’re not stressing out over it. In a time as exciting as launching a website, you don’t want it to be ruined by cramming months worth of work into two weeks (been there, done that).
What do you do to keep yourself on schedule?
