Why your Blog should be CommentLuv enabled

I recently enabled CommentLuv on my blog, something that I should have done a long time ago. I’ve been concentrating on building a community, and one of the keys has been commenting. When you have 10, 15, 20 people commenting on each post it shows that you have a strong community built in to your blog. The question, though, is how to get 10, 15 or even 50 people commenting on  each post?

That’s where CommentLuv comes in. One of the main incentives of commenting on other blogs is backlinks. If you leave an intelligent comment on any blog and your name is linked to your site, it could always contribute to more traffic. CommentLuv takes it one step further. This plugin will visit the site of the “comment author” while he types his comment and will retrieve a selection of his last blog posts, tweets or digg submissions, which he can choose from to include at the bottom of his comment when he clicks submit.

It’s a very powerful tool for building any blogger’s community. If you are interested in installing CommentLuv and seeing the benefits unfold before your very eyes, click here.  If you want to try it out, leave a comment below.

    • http://ben-lang.com Ben Lang

    Hello Ben.

I came here via Google and have subscribed to your feed.

It’s great to see you’ve gained such knowledge about the Web and social networking at such a young age.

My technology blog is now also CommentLuv enabled. Be sure to visit:

    http://digitivity.org

I think CommentLuv, and other related plugins, follow the general principal of the Golden Rule. You watch my cat one day, and I water your petunias some other day when you’re gone. You come to my blog and comment, and I give you a link back.

Bloggers that don’t even want to give a link back are, in my opinion, self-centered.

I use commentluv but lately to many bots have been posting. I like for people to promote their sites but hate the bots. all of them have been caught by the spam folder but it is still aggravating.

    • http://ben-lang.com Ben Lang

Well you’re not the only one. Luckily, for me it also all goes to spam. Believe me, it’s still worth it.

  • http://www.simonbyholm.com Simon

I have been thinking about getting commentluv but didn’t really get the point.

Getting more intelligent comment would be fine BUT I’m wondering…

Do you get more comment spam when you have comment luv enabled than before?

    Simon

The point is that it offers an incentive for other people to leave comments, a link to their latest blog post.

      Best regards.

  • http://www.simonbyholm.com Simon

    hi Ben

I notice that most of the comments here are from people in the internet marketing niche. Is this plug-in effective outside of that? It seems to me that most non IM people wouldn’t understand the attraction of it.

Also, I notice that you comment on each comment. Is that a deliberate tactic to balance the outgoing links or are you just being super friendly :-) ?

    • http://ben-lang.com Ben Lang

      Hi,

I wouldn’t say that most people here are into internet marketing, its more a balance of entrepreneurs, bloggers, marketers etc.

I reply to each comment not to balance each outgoing link rather to accommodate a community and have more commentators.

  • http://brendanwenzel.net Brendan

I’ve been pondering this move to leave Disqus and go back to my native commenting system to add plug ins like ComLuv. Thanks for providing your take on the subject.

Hey Ben, my first time on this site and I decided to make this post the first to comment on. :)

I can’t believe what a great blog you got here, for a 16 year old, you sure got your head screwed on well. ;)

I say that, being a dad, I have two sons, 17 and 15 year old…

Great blog, great mindset you have.

As for the commentluv, I think it’s one of the best things to happen to blogs in the last couple of years, though I was a bit late to it with mine, I would now say, it’s one of the key plug ins.

Yeah, the proof of commentluv being great is right here with this post, not to mention the fact on my own blog since moving to WPress, the post about commentluv is the most commented on, I think you could say that about the many blogs who have written about it. ;)
